Vaishravana

Tibet – China, 19th century 

Cast brass, gilt, polychrome painting. Heavy-set Vaishravana bears a menacing expression and is dressed in ancient armour. In his left hand he holds a mongoose, which is spitting pearls; he should be holding a banner in his right hand. He is seated on a snow lion, the national animal of Tibet.
